Menzies housing plan is just what is needed

Not a week goes by without evidence of the acute housing shortage in this country. The lack of affordable housing is one of the major failure of this Labour government.

It is therefore excellent that Menzies Campbell has today launched an initiative to build a million more affordable homes in this country.

I notice that Menzies/ speech has come under fire from Yvette Cooper and others. I think that is a sign of its success. This is precisely the sort of bold initiative that is needed.

  1. I agree, the fact that the housing minister is boasting how they're not even building as many houses as they were in Margaret Thatcher's day shows we've got a great opportunity and we're on the right track. (BRING BACK RIGHT TO BUILD has got to be our slogan i suppose, or something like that).

Couldn’t agree more. Let’s house him abroad somewhere.

  3. A million *affordable* homes. Even the government wants 1.9 million over the next decade in total at the moment, but will not commit to making at least 1m of them affordable or social.

  5. You did understand the plan, right? It's absolutely ridiculous. Of course the motive should be applauded, but the execution is beyond mad.
