Watching public spending by going abroad

If you are in charge of watching public spending in the UK, do you really need to travel abroad at public expense 43 times in 3 years, at a cost of £336,000?

Sir John Bourn, head of the National Audit Office, has some explaining to do. In fairness, the NAO say that their global work brings in £4 million per year for the Treasury. Even then, one has to wonder if the man has his eye on the right ball.
