A tiny tick could have brought down the world's most powerful man

Lyme disease is an appalling illness, spread by ticks, which can be prevented by simple precautions such as tucking your trousers into your socks when you go for a country walk.

President George Bush can count himself lucky that, in his case, it was spotted early on and dealt with.
