Timely reminder of Conservative conference views on cheap flights

The Tories are to launch another consultation on environmental taxes. It is timely, therefore, to remind ourselves that at the last Conservative conference "members rejected a motion suggesting cheap flights were "a false economy" by 57% to 43%, indicating the difficulties the Conservatives will face in setting out a green agenda." One Conservative member, a pilot from Norfolk, said during the debate:

Aircraft produce 2% of the world's carbon emissions - exactly the same as the world's cow population.

I would rather give up beef than air travel.
