Call me a nostalgic old fool, if you like, but I just feel like wishing actor Mr Sidney Poitier a very happy 80th birthday. As the NewJersey Star Ledger says of him:He was the right man in the right place at the right time. And he had a perfect right to be there. African-Americans in Hollywood had been rarely feted, but Poitier's talent and integrity could not be denied or deferred.
